Should pitchers in baseball have to wear helmets?
Why hasent MLB made the pitcher wear a helmet after all of these head shots back to the mound but at the same time force all the batters to wear a helmet? The pitcher is in far more danger than the batter. He has no time to react with the balls comming off the bat 150mph+ to over twice the speed of the pitch. When line drives go back to the pitcher they are often still in their pitching motion with no time to see it at all.

Does somebody have to be killed for this to happen like the spitball?
Well they made the base coaches wear helmets. Who knows, maybe the pitchers wearing helmet debate isn’t as much of a stretch as people may think. But I don’t think they’re going to make a change anytime soon. Something very tragic would have to happen like you said, someone dying which is an extreme example, but unfortunately, a realistic one. That’s the only way I see them having pitchers wear some sort of protective gear. They took a long time to make a helmet rule for batters, and a hit batter happens a lot more frequently than a line drive right back at a pitcher, so it would take a lot to make that decision. I really don’t know how they would find a helmet for pitchers though. It can’t be a batting type of helmet or anything because it would fall off while the pitchers are in their motion. It would have to be something sort of like the old leather football helmets, but that would look ridiculous. When it comes down to making a decision about it, the problem of finding the right kind of helmet would be a key factor. In my opinion, it will stay with no helmets forever.
