Why do people call Steroid use by athletes “cheating”?
I’m not talking about the Law or the Legality of Steroids. What I want to investigate is why people think that using steroids is any different than any of the developments and advancements in sports equipment, training, nutrition, and physcology. I’d also like to focus on Baseball, Track and Field, and other American Sports.
Basically, It gives the athlete a physical edge over the player that does not use steroids. Imagine being in a sport where you have no possibility of winning because you do not take steroids, but the other person does. He beats you each and every time because the steroids give him that advantage. Is that fair to you? Not really, because at that point its no longer a level playing field. I believe the use of steroids for personal reasons would be ok, but not when a competition is involved. Unless all players are steroid users, then its not a fair game.
