How much gas money should I give to my friend?
In a couple of weekends, we’re gonna take a road trip from Los Angeles to Phoenix to see spring training baseball. It’s about 800 miles round trip. We’re gonna be taking his Trans Am, which is kind of a gas guzzler (about 22 mpg on the freeway). So…how much gas money do you think I should give to him?
you will use 35-40 gallons for the trip, not counting the driving in and around LA. You probably need to add at least 200 more miles for that.
The best way is to settle up at the end of the trip or alternate buying tanks of gas from about half a tank empty each time.
If he wants the money upfront, then your share would be about
45.00 for 22.5 gallons based on 1000 miles @ 2.00 a gallon.
