how do i opt out of army contract?

i enlisted a few days ago… however i couldnt get the job i wanted and i got stuck with infantry.. which im fine with. however i recieved an offer to play division 1 college baseball… baseball has been my life sport. how do i go about telling my recruiter i want to cancel my contract. all i did was get into DEP and took oath of enlistment.. not the oath right before basic training

you should stop assuming shit cause im not in my senior year retard. im 18 and i graduated 08.

You’re absolutely fine. Just say you want to cancel your DEP contract. Your recruiter might tell you no, but he’s lying. If you have to, go to the recruitment station commander and ask him to cancel it. If worst comes to worst, just don’t show up on the ship out date. You’ll be absolutely fine. If you ever want to join the military again, you’ll have to get a waiver approved for why you didn’t go when you were in the DEP, but it’s not very serious.

You will not go to jail. You are not stuck in the military. All of that is lies. TECHNICALLY the military could prosecute you, after forcibly putting you on active duty – but that’s WAY too much trouble. It simply does not happen. It’s official policy not to do so. They don’t care enough about you. The only issue will be if you want to join later, and you’ll have to get a waiver.

So yea, tell your recruiter you want to cancel the contract. Be prepared that he will try VERY HARD to pressure you to stay. If you want you can even just send him a letter. He may even lie to you and tell you you will go to jail. Again. This is a lie. If you don’t go to basic training, you are pretty much considered not to have been in the military.
