Martial arts Education system ect.?

Ive been training in Wado Ryu for 3 years now. And it has changed my life in so many ways and has done so much for me. Its funny to see how different I am opposed to the normal 17-18 year old. I see that I show 10 times the amount of respect and discipline than the other retarded teenagers out there. And on that note, I feel like Martial arts is my calling, ive never felt so passionate about something and i want to make my life about it. Ive looked around and was saddened to see that “Martial arts” is not part of the Educational System, so i wouldn’t be able to get tuition for doing martial arts in college like Baseball, Football, basketball, ect. So… What would be a good start for me to try and accomplish this? I will definitely need to be paid because like any other adult you cant live off of nothing. Any REAL advice will be much appriciated.

Doog,

As a matter of fact, there are college scholarships available in judo, taekwondo and wrestling. I am not familiar with any scholarships in karate specifically but you should be able to search the Internet for one of the martial arts I listed with “scholarship” to find tuition assistance.

There are a couple of schools that offer degrees in martial arts and you should be able to find those colleges on the Internet as well.

Alternatively, you could study the following and integrate the education with your martial arts:

Asian History or Asian Studies
Exercise Science (Biomechanics, Kinesiology)
International Business
Journalism
Language Studies (Chinese, Japanese, Korean)
Medicine (Physical Therapy, Nursing, Physician, etc. some would be more complimentary than others)
Sports Psychology
