Are the first 50 years of MLB equal to high school baseball or worse?

Many MLB players did not practice in the off season and had to get jobs. Most did not even come close to the amount of training high schoolers spend tuning their bodies all year round. The equipment and training used today was not even invented. A player today can spend hours watching videos of pitchers they are going to face and same goes for pitchers watching batting videos. Would babe Ruth make it in the minor leagues today without the training and technology of our times?

How many days did Ruth spend on the disabled list? How many other modern-day players moved from being a starting pitcher to becoming a career home-run leader in the record book? How many modern-day players hit their last three home runs on their last day as a player in a ball park whose centerfield wall was 550 feet from home plate?
I think Ruth and the others of his era would survive quite nicely in the minor leagues today. Very few of them would stand around the on-deck circle posing for the scouts instead of watching the game and its nuances.

I want to be a a major league baseball player, how to become it?

Ok listen I love this game, i love it’s swagger, But i need some sereious motovation. I tried to use baseball but it will only last like 3 days most. Ok my name is Christopher, i go to Urban Peace Academy high school, i’m a captain of the baseball team. I play 3rd baseball , i’m 5″9, and weight at 296. I need to play for the MLB, know there are only a handfull of people that play but i mean, i dream this every night for like 8 years, i wake up every morning to baseball, I only play baseball video games. I need to know how to get really fit to baseball , and train becasue i’m going to a minor league try out this summer, and i get really nervous, last year i quit only in the second task becasue i got low motivation. i saw that this wasnt for me, like i kept comparing my self to the other players and i was like fuck it. So please show me the way to to glory in detail. like what to eat, what tranning to do, how days i should do it you know the regular. THANKS GUY and happy new years.

At 296 lbs., you seem to be a bad fit for the sport….I mean even if you were a foot taller, that weight just doesn’t work for baseball. If you are serious about the sport though, I suggest you get into a good exercise and diet program to lose some of those pounds before next season–try your local YMCA (its cheap and it works). If money is no object, get a personal trainer to work with you. It seems that you have the right attitude now and hopefully your motivation will increase once you see your diet and fitness progress. It also is not a bad idea to get Muscle and Fitness magazine and start taking vitamins (check with an expert to recommend which ones to use). Above all this, practice, practice practice!

Another Baseball season has come & gone. What changes does your team have to do to be a contender ->?

Next Season? Who should stay? Who should go? How hopeful are you for your team to be in contention & hopefully be in the Playoffs and/or World Series next season?

On another note thanks to many of you who made it fun here for another Baseball season. For many i know they will be leaving after tonight & won’t be back till Spring Training/Opening Day. For those users thanks for making this fun & will see you back here next Season.

The Twins have 10 free agents:
Jim Thome – Stay
Carl Pavano – Stay
Jesse Crain – Stay
Jon Rauch – Stay
Brian Fuentes – Go
Matt Guerrier – Go.. I think we have better options.
Ron Mahay -Go
Randy Flores – Go
Nick Punto – Go.
I think Kubel was one too, and he got his contract.

I’m as hopeful as I was last year. It’ll be nice having Nathan back.. I hope he’ll be able to close the door against the Yankees.
The Twins need to stay healthy next year. Morneau getting hurt meant Thome and Kubel and Cuddyer had to play a lot more. Not so bad for Cuddyer, but it was rough on Thome and Kubel who were both very hurt in the playoffs. If Morneau stays healthy, I’ll expect to go further.

It’s a beginner’s resume. Beginner’s resume’s are not competitive. Objectives and sports/hobbies can be taken out. Put sports under special skills.

Don’t worry about it at this point. You’re not in a position to begin looking for representation and you don’t need an official “resume’ to audition for community theatre.
Just get that experience section built up and get into more classes (also for training, separate everything out don’t just put into into a general category of acting.
